Thornborough Hall, Leyburn featured in the chapter concerning ‘Miscellaneous Manifestations’ today housing the Rural District Council offices, Leyburn library and registry office is also known to harbour the ghost of an unfortunate school girl who met an unaccounted for death when the Hall was formerly the Bulcote Girls Boarding School from 1915 until the 1920’s.
It is not know how the young lady met her end, but her late night presence is still felt especially between the first and second floors where her apparition apparently drifts along the former floor level between stories before alterations were made. Not surprisingly her appearances are said to be rather unnerving with one former cleaner insisting on only cleaning the premises in the morning.
